Two Commonwealth scholars are named

Mr. James Neville Burnett-Herkes III, 23, the son of Dr. and Mrs. James N.

Burnett-Herkes of Bailey's Bay, will study at Glasgow Caledonian University in the United Kingdom from September, 1993.

A former student of Warwick Academy, a Rotary International Exchange student in Germany and a recipient of The A.E. Nicholl Scholarship, Mr. Burnett-Herkes was awarded the Bachelor of Science Honours degree by the University of New Hampshire in 1992.

Mr. Burnett-Herkes was a summer intern at the Bermuda Biological Station where he participated in an ongoing time series monitoring the Bermuda area air pollutant levels. He also was a research assistant at the University of New Hampshire evaluating a shallow fluidised bed toxic waste incinerator. He plans to pursue a Master of Science degree in Environmental Management.

Mr. Danny R.M. Simmons, 29, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Simmons of Warwick, has been awarded a prestigious Commonmwealth Scholarship tenable at the University of Manitoba, Canada from September, 1993.

A former student at The Berkeley Institute and a Bermuda Music Camp honour student, Mr. Simmons was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree by Adadia University, Nova Scotia in 1988.

Mr. Simmons is a former employee of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and will pursue his Master of Science degree in Landscaping Architecture while at the University of Manitoba.

He is currently enrolled in a two year Master's programme in Landscape Architecture at the University of Manitoba.
