efforts with ESSO employees to work for Keep Bermuda Beautiful.

All of the participants spent the afternoon picking up trash at Ferry Point Park on the northern shore of the island.

The Up With People members and ESSO employees worked together in small groups and spread out over as much as the park as possible. This was also a way for the students and employees to get to know each other as the day went on.

Community Service is a very important aspect of Up With People which is made even better when they have the opportunity to work with the people of the communities they are visiting.

Everyone worked very hard even though it wasn't the nicest of days and continually tried to rain. However, the challenge of the weather made the work seem even more of a success. By the end of the day each of the small groups had collected huge piles of trash.

It was unbelievable what they found hidden in the bushes in what seemed to appear a fairly clean park when they first arrived. Throughout the day they collected both paper trash and recyclables.

In fact they collected over 4,000 glass bottles to be taken to recycling along with aluminium cans. It was an accomplishment for everyone because they could see what they had achieved at the end of the day.

After the long afternoon both Up With People and ESSO employees enjoyed an indoor barbecue to celebrate their success.
