Up With People calling present and past alumni

A former 1969 Up With People cast member who is now the organisations director of Alumni Relations is paying a whirl-wind visit to Bermuda this week.

Pat Berry Glassner is on the Island this week to meet with the current cast members and alumni of Up With People.

Alumni interesting in meeting Ms Glassner should attend a 5.45 p.m. meeting tomorrow.

*** The orchestra of the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society , the Daylesford Sinfonia , will be performing concerts this weekend at the City Hall Theatre in Hamilton.

The Sinfonia will be performing popular classical music with American origins or themes conducted by a talented New Yorker, Paul Hostetter.

Mr. Hostetter, the music director of the Lyric Orchestra of New York, will be available in the lobby of City Hall at 7.15 p.m., to speak about the music with interested persons.

Menuhin teacher, Diane Hamilton, will lead the concert as first violinist and the local orchestra will be enhanced by 16 visiting musicians from the US.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children and students (a student is a qualified pupil, of any age, being instructed by a teacher performing in this concert).

Tickets went on sale yesterday at the Daylesford Theatre box office on Dundonald Theatre in Hamilton from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m.

*** A local hotel has made the list in Gourmet Magazine's `Rooms at the Top' comprehensive readers' survey.

The Horizons in Paget got top honours for Bermuda's foremost hotel in the May 1999 issue.

The `Rooms at the Top' awards were part of an entire issue dedicated to hotels.

*** The National Dance Theatre of Bermuda is offering the public an exciting new concept -- a different class each month.

May is improvisation with Tamieca McCloud, a former dancer with Pilobolus Dance Co.

The classes take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 8.15 p.m. at the dance studio at the Bermuda College.

*** King's-Edgehill School in Nova Scotia will be holding their `reunion of the 50's' next month.

The reunion will be held June 25, 26 and 27 in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada.
