US group offering `Minority' grants
grants from a group aiming to strengthen the role that minorities play in setting public policy.
The US Conference of Minority Public Administrators (COMPA) is part of the American Society for Public Administration and serves public administrators, students and other professionals involved in public service.
The group is dedicated to ensuring that the interests of minority employees and constituencies are served.
COMPA will hold their annual convention in Bermuda next February. About 400 people will attend the event, being held outside the US for the first time.
Destination Bermuda Limited is the local co-ordinator.
The conference is offering a grant worth $1,000 to a qualified Bermudian studying public service, public administration or urban affairs at a recognised university or college in Bermuda, the United States or Canada.
A $500 travel grant will also be offered to a local studying at an institution outside Bermuda to attend the 1994 National Conference of Minority Public Administrators, from February 16-19.
Those interested are asked to contact Mr. Edwin Cook, COMPA Grants/Scholarships, P.O. Box 3010, Ft. Worth, Texas, USA 76113 for applications.
The recipients will be announced at the convention, in Bermuda, on February 19.
