Volunteers needed

Cooks; Drivers; and Assistants Volunteers are needed for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Anyone interested in helping out should contact Barbara Frith at 236-1815 between 8 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

*** L'Alliance Francaise des Bermudes will host a special concert and dinner this weekend at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

`La Vie en rose -- soiree cabaret' will feature international performers Gisele Fredette and Bernard Levasseur and local artists Vic Glazer and Dr.

Karol Sue Reddington in an evening of French cabaret song.

Saturday's event will take place at La Coquille Restaurant at 7 p.m.

The $100 tickets, which include dinner, cocktails and wine, are available from Opus Encore, the National Trust Offices at Waterville or by calling 236-6483 or voice mail at 291-4758.

*** The Centre on Philanthropy will tonight host a workshop for nonprofit charities entitled Volunteer Management.

The workshop, which is designed to help charities make effective use of volunteers, will be led by Margie Murphy, an expert in volunteer and fund development with Advocates for Human Potential.

The seminar will focus on creative approaches to extending charities' services and operating hours by finding the right volunteers and using them well.

Tonight's four-hour workshop will get underway at 5.30 p.m. at Centre Solutions and is $60 for members, $75 for nonmembers and $85 at the door.

*** The Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS) and the Island's Earth Day 2000 Committee presents the third in a four-part lecture series entitled `Living in Harmony with the Environment'.

Thursday's lecture, `Battling for a Bottle Bill', will be given by Government Conservation Officer Dr. David Wingate.

The 7.30 p.m. presentation will take place in the Aquarium Hall of the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo in Flatts.

The lecture is $5, payable at the door, with proceeds benefiting the BZS.
