We've seen it grow
still, as she puts it, in the "little cottage across from the Bermudiana Hotel''. "I've been working here for 33 years,'' she said. "I started in May of 1964 as a clerk typist over in the old building on Pitts Bay Road in the little cottage across from the Bermudiana Hotel.'' Now an accounts assistant, Mrs. Sousa said she enjoys working for the company, now located on Richmond Road, as much as she did then. "I have enjoyed every minute of it. I love working here. I've always had a good boss and supervisor and never even thought about looking for another job.
Marie Rance joined American International Co. Ltd.'s life insurance department in 1965. Now in the investment administration department, she says the experience she has gained at the company during those 32 years have been more than enjoyable, they've been invaluable. "I joined the company in 1965 as part of the life insurance division of the American International Group of Companies, auditing accounts in the audit department,'' she said. "I then moved to the underwriting department where I did a lot of statistics, consolidating all the figures of our companies worldwide. I then worked in personnel for nine years, doing the company's payrolls.'' Since which, Mrs.
Rance said she has moved again, this time to the investment administration department. "We handle investment funds, mostly in Asia and Russia and we do a couple of little private company fiancial transactions. "The company was very large at one point, there used to be over 300 employees. Two parts of the company moved back to the United States however and it dwindled a bit but it's now starting to build up again. I feel really positive about the future of AIG'' PHOTO Amanda Sousa
