`Wonderful time' for Girl Guides
week to celebrate their 80th Anniversary.
Girl Guides from Gibraltar, St. Helena, Holland, Norway, Trinidad & Tobago, the UK and the US as well as Bermuda came together for a one-week camp at Clearwater Beach in St. David's. The First Cedar Hill Boy Scouts also participated in the event.
The girls, the youngest of whom were 11 1 , engaged in horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, tennis and mini golf and learned about the environment at the Bermuda Biological Station and Nonsuch Island.
They also spent part of the week out in the community helping organisations such as King Edward VII Hospital and Agape House and hosted a Bermuda Culture day for the public on Saturday afternoon.
"The girls had a wonderful time,'' said Island Commissioner Lynn Hollis Cann.
"We must thank the corporate sector and the community at large for donating the $150,000 we needed to put this camp on.'' The event was the first Girl Guide camp since 1969 when they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
The Camp ended on Sunday.
