WRC to hold `bad hair' fund-raiser
a Bad Hair Day fund-raiser next month.
WRC executive director Delcina Bean Burrows said money will be raised in the promotion when participants purchase a special pocket hair brush for $5.
"There will be an Island-wide observance of different hair styles, types of hair and texture on May 19,'' Ms Bean Burrows said.
"We would encourage people to wear exotic hairstyles, funny hats, wigs from the Victorian and renaissance eras, the 70's, afros and the 60's, whatever people want,'' she continued.
The Bad Hair Day promotion is the WRC's Millennium fund-raiser and money raised will be used to start an endowment fund.
The endowment fund will bear the name of one of the founding members of the WRC, Moya Boyd, who is now its oldest member.
"The fund will primarily serve as a means of keeping the organisation afloat of peripheral operational expenses which have increased as a result of a steady ten percent increase of clients each year since 1995,'' said Ms Bean Burrows.
The endowment fund will also help the WRC to implement a quality control scheme which will include client satisfaction surveys, outcome studies and new service initiatives.
