A great alternative to water
I was just congratulating myself on our early start this morning when I was greeted by an in-car ant invasion.
I had little Chloe half way into her seat when I noticed a million ants fighting over a solitary Cheerio.
Things are obviously bad in the ant kingdom … perhaps we should instigate a relief effort? However, considering just how long it took me to remove them all, I'm not feeling especially charitable.
This was in fact made harder by my resistance to using any kind of harsh chemical spray around Chloe. Ultimately though, I gave up 'relocating' them and committed ant-murder with the help of Clorox Greenworks … which as it turns out, was surprisingly effective.
Unfortunately, I only have myself to blame for the early morning pandemonium. I'm the one that lets Chloe eat snacks in the car and I can hardly blame her for the occasional wayward Cheerio.
So with a heavy 'I-should-have-known-better-in-Bermuda heart' off I went to see the magicians at Bulls Head Car Wash.
But of course trying to get your car a miracle makeover a few days after a hurricane isn't easy either. I was promptly turned away and asked to try my luck between 7.30 a.m. and 7.45 a.m. the next day.
The problem with this is that it's precisely the time I'm trying to feed Chloe breakfast at home, as opposed to in the car.
Oh well, after telling myself that things could only get better, I then proceeded to have the kind of day that drives people to alcoholism.
In fact, one of the things getting me through today has been the thought of a perfectly chilled glass of Pinot Grigio after work.
The only problem being, that as I'm a) in charge of a toddler and b) a lightweight, drinking wine and reading 'That's not my Bunny' don't exactly mix.
Although a glass of wine would certainly make the tunes from the V-Tech phone a lot more tolerable, I'm going to do my best to hold off. The thing is, as I'm also anti-sodas, fun drinks are hard to come by. However fortunately I've found a great healthy iced-tea recipe to relieve the water monotony.
I switched the ingredients up a little by adding some lime and agave, and now really love this. It's easy to make up in batches and keep in the fridge and as agave is the only sweetener used, it's easier on blood sugar too. If you consider that a standard iced tea can contain up to 21 teaspoons of sugar, or a toxic cocktail or artificial sweeteners, then this is a seriously healthy option.
Rooibos tea is also naturally caffeine free whilst being very high in antioxidants, so give this a try!
You can buy Rooibos tea at some grocery stores but also at Down to Earth.

4. Pour over ice and garnish with the mint leaves
5. Sip and enjoy!
