A tribute to Bob Marley on his 64th birthday
The music of Bob Marley is expected to come alive in a one-night performance on what would have been the late singer's 64th birthday, tomorrow at 9 p.m.
441 Productions is staging 'A Tribute to the Honourable Robert Nesta Marley' at the Kaleidoscope Art Foundation.
The featured performer is Exodus, a Canadian band that travels the world performing songs by Bob Marley.
Said Andrew Holmes of 441 Productions: "They are a five-piece band with one female back-up singer.
"The band are based in Toronto, however the majority of the musicians were born in Jamaica. The lead singer of Exodus, Lazo, has shared the stage with the likes of The Wailers, Maxi Priest, Third World and Burning Spear to name a few."
Among the lead singer's honours are that he was named top reggae performer of the year at the Canadian reggae music awards.
Local entertainers Troy Anthony, Jugglin' J, Magic, Vybez Alliance, Blackstar, Herbalist Supreme and Young Guns will also perform.
According to Mr. Holmes, the night will not be completely dedicated to the music of Bob Marley just the majority of it.
"Troy will be singing Bob tunes as well as some of his original tracks to the music of Bob Marley.
"The night will be majority Marley, however there will be some songs from that era, which the DJs will drop in.
"Exodus will do two 45-minute sets of all Bob Marley tunes."
Tickets are limited as the Kaleidoscope Art Foundation lawn can only accommodate 1,500.
Tickets are $50 in advance, available at the iStore and Jamaican Grill on Court Street. Tickets are $65 at the gate.
