Auditions at Daylsford, learn animation history

Calling all actors and dancers! Auditions for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society 's October production of the musical `Chicago' will be held at Saltus Grammar School on April 30, May 1 and 2 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Audition material will be available at Daylesford Theatre on the corner of Washington and Dundonald Streets from Monday to Friday after 5.30 p.m.

Movie producer, director and designer Arthur Rankin Jr. will give a public lecture on the process of stop-motion animation, the evolution of computer animation, and life in show business at Bermuda National Gallery on May 4 at 6 p.m.

Mr. Rankin, who resides in Bermuda, has had a long and extensive career in film and television, and was responsible for bringing stop-motion animation to television in the early 1060s.

He created, among many other favourite children's television programmes, `Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer,' the original of which is currently on display at the entrance to Bermuda National Gallery, along with an animation cel from his latest film, `The King and I'.

Admission is $10 for BNG members, $15 for others. Refreshments will precede the lecture at 5.30 p.m.
