Bermuda Junior Service League donates $15,000 to community
Members of the Bermuda Junior Service League awarded over $15,000 in donations to community during its Annual General Meeting on May 7.
The AGM is an annual celebration of the hard work of the dedicated members, who work and fundraise throughout the year to support local charities and individuals.
The $15,000 in donations includes the annual Mrs. C. Vail Zuill scholarship, which was awarded in July 2007, to brothers Stefan and Micrae Smith.
Recipients of other donations that were awarded at the AGM include BIFF, $5,000, Colleen Gibbons, $3,000, Big Brothers Big Sisters, $1,000, and PALS $500.
Members also provided funding and support for the annual Stuff the Bus effort, Annual Middle and Senior School Debates and Hospital Christmas Bag project. And more than 1,500 hours were donated by members to support these and other community service efforts in 2007-2008.
The Bermuda Junior Service League is an organisation of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community in which we live.
Its purpose is educational and charitable.
