BII gives scholarhip to top Bermudian student

As a result, he wins Shelton Burgess Scholarship, worth $5,000. The scholarship is funded by the Insurance Advisory Committee and the Insurance Brokers Association of Bermuda.
Its purpose is to reward the top Bermudian student in the Bermuda Insurance Diploma examinations, and cover the cost of travel to the UK or North America, and costs associated with attendance at an insurance training course.
The annual award is made to help students attain professional insurance designation.
Mr. Belton, aged 22, is a graduate of a business and finance BTEC national diploma course at Stevenage College in the UK. He is now studying part-time to become an Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and will take three examinations towards the qualification in April.
He is employed as underwriting assistant by LaSalle Re, one of the new property catastrophe reinsurers. He previously worked at Anchor Underwriting Managers. His ambition is to take responsibility for underwriting his own account.
TOP SCHOLAR -- Mr. Sean Belton was the 1993 recipient of the Bermuda Insurance Istitute's scholarship allowing the highest scoring student on the Bermuda Insurance Diploma examinations to attend insurance training abroad.
