Canjelae to perform tonight
Singer Canjelae Taylor will serenade an audience of adoring fans tonight.
Backed by Adrian Jones, Lauren Easton and Johnae Furbert, her performance will also feature a live band.
The talented 18-year-old singer of neo soul, pop, gospel and R&B is holding the concert as a means of raising additional funds necessary to supplement her scholarship to Berklee College of Music.
The runner up in the Singing for Success series received an $11,000 scholarship from the renowned institution, with classes beginning in January.
She also received the chance to attend a five-week intensive summer programme with Berklee through the Singing for Success competition in April.
The young artist is hoping as many as possible come out to show their support Saturday night.
"I really appreciate the support that I've received thus far," she said. "It feels so good to know that so many people are behind me and appreciate my music. Thank you to everyone who is involved.
"The most important thing is that we support the young artists that are driven by their passions and are willing to follow their dreams with the help of their neighbours.
"There's nothing more encouraging than Bermudians helping Bermudians on the path to success."
The concert will be held at the Elliot Gallery at the Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation, 27 Jubilee Road, Devonshire.
The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door (general admission $35; patrons $100). There is, however, limited seating. Advance tickets are available at the customer Service Desk at Brown & Co. on Reid Street.
Tickets include a complimentary drink ticket. For more information telephone 504-2439 or e-mail sundjata@gmail.com
