during a 12-mile walkathon.

The Family and Friends of the Continental Society of Bermuda hope to raise $10,000 for needy children, and has appealed for sponsors.

Walkers will start at 8 a.m. from the City Hall, wending their way to Watford Bridge.

They will be given a send-off by the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr. Cecil Dismont. And at Loyalty Inn in Mangrove Bay they will be greeted by four Somerset MPs.

There will be six pit stops en route -- Paget Pharmacy, Hayward's grocery store, Heron Bay MarketPlace, Barnes Corner, Hitching Post, and Somerset MarketPlace.

Continental Society spokeswoman Mrs. Nathalie Adderley said walkers would be decked out in red, white and green -- the society's colours.

"We are appealing for as many people as possible to sponsor us and give donations,'' she said.

Mrs. Adderley explained the society's role was to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of disadvantaged and underprivileged children.

Fund-raising helped, among other things, buy school uniforms, eye-glasses, recreational equipment for the hospital, and an annual Bermuda College Scholarship. Anyone wanting to sponsor the walkathon, or take part, can contact Mrs. Adderley on 292-4402.
