Clamens, Brewer team up for 'Night at the Opera'

Shining star: Bermudian soprano Marcelle Clamens makes her Bermuda Festival debut this evening in 'A Night at the Opera'. The programme also features international tenor David Brewer and the Bermuda Chamber Orchestra.

Bermudian soprano Marcelle Clamens makes her Bermuda Festival debut tonight with international tenor David Brewer in a thrilling programme from the classical repertoire, entitled 'A Night at the Opera'.

They will be accompanied by visiting pianist Olga Zeidel and the Bermuda Festival Chamber Orchestra directed by Ryan Ellis.

Since her debut in 1990 as the soprano soloist in Verdi's 'Requiem', Mrs. Clamens has continued to entertain local audiences with memorable operatic and oratorio interpretations.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati Conservatory, the soprano won top prizes at international vocal competitions, including the Bellini International Voice Competition in Italy.

In 1999 Mrs. Clamens gave her debut performance at Carnegie Hall, and was later recognised as a singer of artistic excellence by Opera Ebony. Since then, she has had invitations to perform in Canada, Germany and the UK.

Mr. Brewer enjoys a busy international career in opera. He has performed leading roles in productions in many of the world's great theatres and opera houses, including Milan's La Scala, L'Opéra de Bastille, Opéra Monte Carlo, and the operas of San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles.

Mr. Brewer is also a voice coach for such renowned singers as Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Destiny's Child and Dawn Robinson.
