Comedians in the spotlight

Tonight marks the second of two presentations of "Serious Stand Up" — a Bermuda Festival Fringe Festival performance, at the Daylesford Theatre.

Bermudian comedian Jonathan Young, and British comedian John Oliver will perform a range of observational and political stand-up comedy at 8.30 p.m. and 10 p.m., and the public is warned it is not a show for children or people who find the use of colourful language, themes of a sexual nature, or bitter partisanship offensive.

As a member of the Oxford Revue, Mr. Young helped them to win the Golden Turkey award for the absolute worst show ever at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Undaunted, he went on to perform stand-up on stages in the UK, Australia and the US.

Mr. Young has guest starred on a number of sitcoms, including Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and the popular HBO slapstick satire, "Band of Brothers".

Most recently, he won the Fresh Faces of Comedy competition here, and was the opening act at the Just For Laughs festival.

Mr. Oliver was born and raised in England in 1977.

He has worked as a stand up comedial around the UK, entertaining and irritating audiences in equal measure, and has regularly taken shows to the Edinburgh Festival.

Daylesford Theatre is located on the corner of Dundonald and Washington Streets.
