Deadline for BIFF auction
This weekend represents the final opportunity to bid on items in the Bermuda International Film Festival's (BIFF) online auction. The auction, which is live at www.biff.cmarket.com, closes tomorrow at 5 p.m.
Several items have already attracted winning bidders, while other items were auctioned off during BIFF's 'Reel World Weekend' fundraiser, and at Thursday's monthly Film Series presentation at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
There are, however, still more than 40 items at auction, including:
• A script of the film 'LA Confidential' signed by Russell Crowe, Kim Basinger, Kevin Spacey and Guy Pierce.
• A poster of the film 'Barbershop' signed by Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Anthony Anderson, and other cast members.
• DVDs signed by Richard Dreyfuss and Carrie Fisher.
• Photos of Ali G and actress Zhang Ziyi, signed by photographer David Scheinmann.
• A BIFF 2009 Festival package.
• Bargain stays at private homes and top hotels in London, Monte Carlo, Germany, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Boston, Miami and Newport, Rhode Island.
"The auction is a great opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping, as well as reward yourself or your loved ones with unique items which simply aren't for sale very often anywhere," said auction organiser Cheryl Shane, a member of BIFF's management committee. "There is a wide range of items available – there really is something for everyone."
Bidders must register on the online auction site before making their bids. They can also indicate their maximum bid. In such cases, the site will automatically bid on the bidder's behalf up to the maximum indicated.
"Once you are registered, the auction site is very easy to use. The cMarket organisation runs literally hundreds of charity auctions annually for a variety of causes," Mrs. Shane said. "Anyone who has ever used e-bay will find the site easy to use, and even newcomers to online auctions will find they are up and running within minutes."
