Famous for 15 Minutes enters its ninth year

The Golden Inkwell Award is up for grabs during this year's Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society's Famous for 15 Minutes.

Playwrights are being reminded that the entry deadline for the 2010 Famous for 15 Minutes festival is due in early June.

This year marks the ninth year of the popular Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society (BMDS) event.

The basic rules include the script can be no longer than 15 minutes in length when performed, there are no children, no more than four actors or characters and simple props.

A full list of the competition rules can be obtained from the BMDS website at http://www.bmds.bm/FFF2010.pdf. Please email your scripts to famous@bmds.bm before the deadline of June 4. If you are unable to email the script, the original must be posted to BMDS, PO Box DV 631, Devonshire, DV BX or dropped off at the Daylesford Theatre, on Dundonald Street, by June 4.

The preliminary judging panel will whittle all the entries down to a final six, which will be performed at the Daylesford Theatre, from August 12 to August 21.

Actors and actresses are also invited to take part and the auditions are scheduled for June 30 and July 1.

This year's celebrity judge is Ian August who theatregoers in Bermuda will remember as the playwright of the popular and successful "Missing Celia Rose" which was performed at Daylesford last year.
