Following the recent completion of an intense two-year course, four members of the Garden Club of Bermuda have successfully passed the Bermuda judges examination, which qualifies them to judge on the Island. They are Debbie Burville, Susan Conyers, Deanna Moss and Cindy Young.

The examination was administered by Joan Cooper, an accredited judges' adjudicator for the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) of the United Kingdom.

The two-year course for floral art judges was held under the auspices of the local Garden Club, and directed by its judges' representative, Jean Motyer. Visiting lecturers came from South Africa, Italy, Canada and the United States as part of the course work.

The participants had gained up to 10 years' experience in matters pertaining to floral art, including keeping pace with modern trends and shows abroad, prior to taking the course. An obviously proud Mrs. Motyer was delighted with their examination success.

"Their pass mark was 67 percent, which is university standard," she said. "The course was very hard work, and I was very pleased with them. Those who did not pass also did extremely well, but they need more experience, which only time can give them. They were all excellent students."
