Full Moon party aims to 'close summer out right'
Full moon parties take place as far away as Thailand, but the organiser of tomorrow night's party said that none of them will be as exciting as his.
Unite Promotions says the Full Moon Party will take place at Dockyard's Snorkel Park and organiser Belcario Thomas invited all to come out to play.
"Enjoy the last summer beach party of the season under a mystical full moon," he said.
"It's an action-packed night with a brand new beach layout featuring five ex-resident DJs of the former Splash Nightclub including Bitzy, Fozzy, Chubb, OB1 and Kaos spinning the clubbing summer anthems of '08."
Mr. Thomas added that he was hoping to attract at least 1,000 revellers to Unite's Full Moon Party. "They will be enjoying great music for dancing from R&B and Reggae to Hip Hop and House all night with added touches for tons of cool fun including a side Sour Apple Foampit, Taylor Rankin on violin, neon dancers and for an added touch a Poi neon spinning demo.
"A light show, smoke machines, volleyball, hot food and promised by Snorkel Park, lots of bartenders, drink specials, Jello shots, three speed bars."
For those who attended the Pink Party, but not the Foam Party, Mr. Thomas had this to say: "While Unite Promotions did not own, operate, or manage the Pink Party bars or any other bars at Snorkel Park's venue, however, judging by reviews in The Royal Gazette and Bermuda Sun two weeks ago, their commitment to better bar service seems to be sorted with patrons feeling satisfied."
The Full Moon Party is also a fundraiser for the Women's National Rugby Team, as it will help to support them in their first international overseas competition. "We're raising funds to support them in representing Bermuda for the first-ever in the World Cup qualifier matches on October 25 and 26 in Nassau, Bahamas. "Both men's and women's Rugby Union team's will be fighting to qualify with much excitement to represent Bermuda as the sport grows in both popularity and in the quality of play here.
"As a rugby enthusiast having hammed it up as inside centre for the University of Buckingham while in college, I'm excited that Unite Promotions and the Bermuda Rugby Football Union look to do more together in the future, raising awareness, appreciation and funds for a great sport that unites people both on the field and off.
"So, they'll be rucking up even more fun with drinking games throughout the night because they know how to party," he said.
Mr. Thomas advised revellers to come dressed to play in beach attire. "The winner of the wackiest outfit will be announced at midnight and he or she will be able to drink for free," he said.
In addition with most Unite events located in the far extremities of the Island, he said: "To make sure you're safe and to ease your transportation woes, it all starts at Albouy's Point. Just hop on a fast ferry at 8 p.m., 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. "We'll be ferrying people back at 3.30 a.m. for $5.
"With the most affordable party on Saturday night for only $35 in advance and with safety and security sorted, there's a lot of bang for your buck for this cool beach party to close out summer right!" Tickets, $35, are available from Music World, CellularONE, Makin' Waves, Front Street and Unite Promoters. Tickets are $50 at the door. Group tickets can be purchased by calling 737-2355 with information available on Facebook under Unite Full Moon Party.
