artist! The Royal Gazette is sponsoring an art competition on behalf of its annual Hurricane Supplement to be published on June 14.
This year's theme is "Hurricane: The plight of flowers and trees''.
Pretend you are a flower, plant or a tree and draw a picture of how you would feel before, during or after a scary hurricane.
The contest rules are Draw us a colourful painting by hand on a standard sheet of (8 1 x 11) plain white art paper, usually the thick textured paper works best. Any entry larger than 8 1 x 11 or 12'' will be disqualified.
Only one drawing per child.
Mediums may include: Watercolours, oils, pastels, crayons, ink and markers used in any combination.
On the lower right hand corner each drawing should have the artist's name, age and art title on the front of the drawing.
The home phone number and school number should be listed on the back of the drawing.
Drawings should be sent only to The Royal Gazette Ltd., 2 Par-la-Ville Road, Hamilton marked: Hurricane Art Contest, Supplement. (Drawings will not be accepted at Artcetera or the Stationery Store).
Deadline will be June 1, 2001 at 5 p.m.
A winner will be selected from each age category, along with an honourable mention.
Each winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Artcetera and have the winning drawing published in the 2001 Hurricane Supplement.
Also the winners' photographs will appear in the Hurricane Supplement.
We will show as many other works as space permits.
