In all their disco falsetto finest
Staying Alive A Musical Tribute to the Bee Gees
Hamilton Princess, Saturday night
You Should Be Dancing if ever you catch this band live, for Staying Alive have the Bee Gees down to their falsetto finest.
It seemed like a Tragedy the night had to end on Saturday as we moved and grooved to disco classics from the sparkling Seventies.
It was truly Saturday Night Fever at the Hamilton Princess as partygoers revelled in retro heaven.
If you want to see a dance floor fill within seconds, then check out this band. In fact so many people were ripping it up that one 30-year-old reveller actually did that tearing a huge hole to the rear of his jeans as he attempted an over-energetic version of the 'bum shake'.
That never would have happened to John Travolta. Should have worn polyester.
Some men actually did get into the Seventies spirit, with Travolta's famous white flared suit a popular choice, complete with platform shoes and those huge 'gold' medallions which women bizarrely used to find so sexy 'back in the day'.
As for the band, they had Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb down to perfection, with shaggy locks, trilby hats, black leather jackets and trousers which did not leave much to the imagination.
And they were musically so good that you could be forgiven for thinking they were 'the real thing', as we used to say in the Seventies.
Support group The Kennel Boys did a great job of warming up concert-goers with a medley of rock and pop classics before it was time for the Toronto-based tribute band to take to the stage.
Staying Alive took us through all those classics you had forgotten were so good such as Jive Talkin, More Than A Woman, Grease, How Deep Is Your Love, Tragedy and of course, Stayin'Alive.
"Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin', And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah ha ha ha stayin'alive, stayin'alive, Ah ha ha ha stayin'alive."
Disco bliss.
