Calix Smith's show 'Socially Uncommon' opens at the Common Ground Café, Chancery Lane this evening.

"'Socially Uncommon' isn't just the title of my exhibition, it is who I am as a new artist in Bermuda," he said.

"I believe I am new, because of the subject matter I choose to speak about visually on a consistent basis.

"I believe the society we live in is in dire need of the arts and more so in need of artists who take a stand for something.

"As an artist I take a social and political stance for what I believe in and this unfortunately is not the norm hence uncommon."
