Music greats celebrated in fundraiser

Desta (Zion) Wilson

Christmas is a time of celebration and giving – it's in that spirit the Caisey family chose December 20 for its show 'The Three Greats'.

The event will celebrate three 'greats' of the music world – the late Michael Jackson, the late Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder.

The event is the final in a trilogy of concerts held by Caisey Family Annual Productions (CFAP) featuring the music of the three legends, and their 11th fundraiser.

The concert will feature all fresh material and, as always, the cast will include members of the multi-talented Caisey family and their friends. Participating singers are June Caisey Dill, Gene Steede, Albert Caisey, Phiemma Wilson, Clinton and Taur Caisey, Desta (Zion) Wilson, Mitchell (Wires) Trott, Bethann Thomas, and Terry Burgess.

Dancers are Mitchell (Wires) Trott, Keizia Caisey and Hannah Eggen.

The Unit, which travelled to Cuba to perform in the 25th Annual International Havana Jazz Festival, is the backing band. Its members are John Lee, Lionel Edwards, Dennis Fox, Andwele Simons, Derek Simmons and Mike Payne. Proceeds will go to Summerhaven, the residential home for the disabled. Ms Caisey Dill, the family matriarch, said the charity was chosen because "it really needs help – food, beds, special toiletries, grounds maintenance, and more".

"The Caisey family is all about giving. We are very rich in spirit and love, and we (like to) share that richness and support. We are not a registered charity, so most of the money we raise comes from little bits and pieces, a few wonderful people who always give, and the proceeds of our concerts, and we (make up any shortfall) ourselves."

For this reason, CFAP is urging everyone to purchase tickets for what it assures will be another great production. Curtain time is 4 p.m. Tickets, $40, are available Kit 'n' Caboodle in Bermudiana Arcade and at the door.
