Reggae veterans Ital Foundation to perform at Chewstick tonight
Reggae band Ital Foundation will be performing at Chewstick tonight.
The performance will be streamed live to www.chewstick.com.
The event promises to showcase the talents of a group with more than 30 years' experience.
The band was formed in 1977 with three members driven by a shared belief in Rastafarianism.
The group has since expanded to five Kevin Maybury (drums), guitarist Jules Roberts (lead guitar), Sidney Simmons (bass, vocals), Larry Steede (keyboards) and Kevin Wilson (vocals, percussions).
Ironically, the group recorded their first album in 1980, 'Ital Foundations Vol 1', in the exact location that today houses the Chewstick Foundation Headquarters.
The group is currently working on their second CD, 'Ital Foundation Volume II'. They will perform songs from both albums as part of the Chewstick Griot Session this evening.
Tickets, $30, are available from the Chewstick headquarters at 28 Elliot Street between 10 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.
Part proceeds will go toward the Chewstick Foundation. For more information telephone 292-2439 or visit www.chewstick.com.
