So why don't we look to Him to solve the problems we face?

In this CD cover image released by Capitol Records, the latest release by Katy Perry, "Teenage Dreams," is shown.

Wassup party people? The shootings continue. Day in and day out more brothers are being shot up. I agree with recent opinions that suggest that there isn't just one solution. But in addition to the multi-faceted approach that is necessary to curb the violence and shooting, this country needs Jesus Christ! More on this after the top 20.

Up to #1 is 'OMG' by Usher featuring Will I AM. I really like this track. It bangs big time and is proof that Usher is totally on his game these days. Clawing up to #2 is 'California Girls' by Katy Perry, featuring Snoop Dogg. This dance/club/pop hit is catchy and I find myself singing along with it. Tumbling to #3 is 'L'il Freak' by Usher featuring Nicki Minaj.

Improving to #4 is 'Palance' by JW and Blaze, an energy packed soca anthem. Falling to #5 is 'Nothing On You' by BoB featuring Bruno Mars. Up to #6 is 'Find Your Love' by Drake , a former essential new tune.

Slipping to #7 is 'Unthinkable' by Alicia Keys. Down to #8 is 'I'm Not A Superstar' by Remady, a dance anthem earlier this year. Down to #9 it's 'Break Your Heart' by Taio Cruz featuring Ludacris.

Improving to # 10 it's 'I Love The Way You Lie' by Eminem featuring Rihanna. Jumping to #11 is 'Rockstar 10', also by Rihanna. 'Over', by Drake, falls to number 12. Now shifting gears to soca. Improving to #13 is the soca/dance hit entitled 'Party Hard by Donee'o'. Falling to #14 is 'My Chick Bad' by Ludacris featuring Nicki Minaj. Falling to #15 is 'There Goes My Baby' by Usher.

Improving to #16 is 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz, which is tearing up charts all over the planet. UP to # 17 is 'I Like It' by Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull. Climbing to #18 is 'Ride' by Ciara featuring Ludacris.

Slipping to #19 is 'Neighbors Know My Name' by Trey Songz. Sliding into #20 is a former essential new hit 'Commander', by Kelly Rowland featuring David Guetta.

Now back to this week's word – looking to God for our solutions. Most of us are God-fearing people! We all believe in God. We may call Him God, Jehovah, Jah, a higher power, a super being, whatever, but we all essentially believe in God. I even have a bredren who swore down some 15 years ago that he was an atheist. Some years later he went back to school to become a Pastor! Staggering? Yes, but true.

One day, every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! So why don't we look to Him for the answers to the questions we have and the problems we face? Most of us have had periods in our lives when we tried to solve our problems alone, or when we thought we were alone.

Well, guess what? We were never alone. God was always there in our midst, guiding, watching, directing our paths and protecting us, even when we didn't seek His face or live our lives according to His perfect way for our lives. Now that's a God! Now that's a Father.

So we now find ourselves mired in gun violence, gang violence, shootings upon shootings, murders upon murders; and we are looking to fellow humans for answers and solutions? Naah. Let's talk to God and lay this problem at the throne of grace.

There is a Gospel track, the words of which say, "The battle is not yours; it's the Lord's". True. Very true. Now if we could only get the masses to understand this and our leaders to embrace it; we would be primed for change. Can you imagine what would happen if this whole country started praying for peace in Bermuda? Can you envision the powerful healing that would come over our land? I can see this as clear as day. They say that if you can dream it; you can achieve it.

I see a day when we can once again leave our doors and windows open. I imagine a Bermuda where neighbours actually speak to and know one another well. I pray for a day when neighbours don't think twice about asking a neighbour to loan them something; but have the kind of relationship of brotherly love and that 'I am my brother's keeper'.

I see a day when the whole village raises all the children. I wish for a Bermuda where children are respectful of adults and adults love the children so much that the children want to respect them. I desire a Bermuda where people respect persons in authority; not worshipping them but giving them the respect that they are due, because of their position. I long for a day when there is no more shooting, killing, violence or heinous crime being committed in our Island paradise.

The way to get to this utopia or closer to it is to go back to the Church. Don't get me wrong; Church has its issues too and it isn't perfect.

But it teaches the way, the truth, the light and a better life and our chances of success in creating a sustainable society are significantly better if we follow the way of God. Until we as an entire country and as individuals submit to His will and His way, not much will change. His way is the only way! May His Peace be with you ... DJLT.
