Suicide try hospitalises McCready

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – Country singer Mindy McCready was hospitalised after she cut her wrists and took several pills in an apparent suicide attempt, Nashville police said.

A police report said McCready's brother discovered her at home on Wednesday. Timothy McCready told police his sister had been "very intoxicated" after a night out.

A hospital spokeswoman said the singer was in stable condition. McCready attorney Lee Ofman said he did not have details about the situation and her publicist did not immediately return a phone message early yesterday.

McCready, who had a number one hit in 1996 with "Guys Do It All the Time", has struggled in recent years with legal and personal problems that included previous suicide attempts.

In October, the 33-year-old was released from jail in Tennessee after serving about 30 days for violating probation on a 2004 drug charge.
