Sunday concert to be one of Helpert's last as Bermuda's first musician in residence

As one of her final performances as Bermuda's first Musician in Residence, Leslie Halpert will be performing on Sunday at the 5th Annual Guitar Festival.

Ms Helpert has been on-Island since March as a result of the programme founded by Lyndsay Ternent of FreeUp Productions.

She will be performing at the Students Gala Concert at St. Andrew's Church at 6 p.m. on Sunday. She has an original piece prepared for the audience.

"I'll be performing a piece with Taylor Rankin at The Guitar Festival, which I've titled 'A Study on Simplicity.' It's a song that sort of goes back into the classical simple realms of a Suzuki-style music lesson sort of song," she said.

"It is a study on playing very simply. I liked that idea. Somehow, too, it ended up being an homage to my passed grandfather, who was a classical guitarist and recorded a record in Brazil of Portuguese folk songs."

Admission to the Students Gala is free however tickets can be purchased for other Guitar Festival events at www.boxoffice.bm
