failed to function for the second time this month giving motorists a headache and puzzling engineers.

While the bridge's last malfunction earlier this month was blamed on an inexperienced operator, Works and Engineering have not yet pinpointed the cause of yesterday's mishap.

For 25 minutes, motorists waited as operators and Works and Engineering engineers scratched their heads as to why the bridge stuck firmly in the open position after letting through a passing boat.

However, by 4.30 p.m. the bridge was back in operation.

The Ministry yesterday apologised for any inconvenience caused, adding that the incident was under investigation.
