Bermuda International Film Festival (BIFF) August film series will be showing 'The Kidnapping of Ingrid Betancourt' at 7.30 p.m. in the Tradewinds Auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute. The film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles. Tickets, $8 for BIFF Film Club members and $10 for non-members, can be reserved by emailing the festival at info@biff.bm. The film earned the Audience Choice Award at the Slamdance Film Festival, and an Honourable Mention for the Amnesty International Award at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, widely considered the world's top documentary film festival.

Sand Sculpture Competition presented by the Bermuda Department of Tourism in association with the Bermuda Institute of Bermuda Architects, at Horseshoe Bay, Southampton. Bermuda Federation of Musicians and Variety Artists/Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Social Rehabilitation 'Jazz Command Performance', new Berkeley Institute, Pembroke, 6 p.m. Featuring Bermuda's No.1 jazz band, 'The Unit', plus Rickeisha Binns, Aimee Bento, Lavette Phillips-Fuentes and Sia Spence. Awards to female singers who contributed to local music scene in '50s to '70s, plus jazz compere/radio host Derick (CJ) Symonds. Poetry, songs, dance, prizes. MotherBaby International Film Festival (MIFF) will launch its international debut in Bermuda. This three-day world-class event features powerful and inspiring films that explore issues around pregnancy, parenting, and birthing.
