Bermuda Institute for Ocean Sciences (BIOS) is showing the movie 'A Sea Change'. 'A Sea Change' follows the journey of retired history teacher Sven Huseby on his quest to discover what is happening to the world's oceans.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea, The Lure of Bermuda To Overseas Artists is a lecture by Masterworks Founder and Creative Director Tom Butterfield. The event will be held at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, Botanical Gardens. Doors open 5.30 p.m. and lecture starts at 6 p.m. $10 non-members, $5 members. Entry includes one glass of wine.

'An Evening Onboard the Queen of Bermuda' Casino Night Fundraiser in support of The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art. The event starts at 8 p.m. until midnight. Tickets $85, and are available in advance from Masterworks on 236-2950. No dress code, dress as fancy as desired.
Keep Bermuda Beautiful Walk & Work from Dunkley Dairy, Vesey Street to Railway Trail to Store Hill and back from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The aim is to help raise funds for Bermda's first environmental charity.
November 8
Grand Opening of Plush Beauty and Barber Shop will be celebrated with a Block Party featuring entertainment, food and a hair show featuring styles from the new salon are scheduled at Union Street, Hamilton, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
EXHIBITIONS
The Ace Gallery, Ace Building, 17 Woodbourne Avenue, Hamilton, Ace Employee Art Exhibition – 'Vacations and Staycations' is on until December 31. 'Vacations and Staycations' features 36 works of art all created by Ace employees and their families. The works in the exhibition include painting, crayon, and pastel, rip art, collage, pencil drawing and photography and provide a colourful and exciting depiction of the summer holidays.
Ace Building Lobby: Alfred Birdsey An Exhibition of Paintings by Alfred Birdsey from the Collection of E. Michael Jones is on until December 31. As one of Bermuda's most celebrated artists, Alfred Birdsey stood alone for most of the second half of the 20th century as the only modernist painter working in Bermuda. Entirely self-taught, it is believed he started painting in 1927 at the age of 16. This exhibition of paintings is selected from the extensive collection of E. Michael Jones, one of Birdsey's major collectors. The paintings, all from the 1970s and 80s, span a period when Birdsey created his most accomplished works. The Gallery is open to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. except by appointment. Groups should call for an appointment 295-5200.
Bermuda Archives: The Legal Instruments of Emancipation: An Exhibition at the Bermuda Archives is on until November 28. Archives' Emancipation Exhibit currently in the Reading Room of the Bermuda Archives, to view the Slave Registers which form the centre of this exhibit. This exhibit is a great opportunity for the public to see these important documents which tell so much about Bermuda's background to Emancipation. Bermuda Maritime Museum, Dockyard: (1) Commissioner's House: The Exploring Voyage of HMS Challenger in Bermuda 1873. A selection of original and reproduction photographs depicting Bermuda, which were used as evidence in the scientific reports of the Challenger voyage, 1872-76. (2) From the Fay and Geoffrey Elliott Collection: 'U-505 Captured', an exhibit telling the remarkable story of the capture off western Africa and the hiding in Bermuda of the submarine U-505. (3) Steinhoff Magazine, High Cave: 'Prisoners in Paradise': Artefacts in Bermuda cedar/stone/other materials created by Dockyard convict establishment, and prisoners of the Boer and World Wars. Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute Titanic exhibit until November 30. A unique collection of Titanic artefacts, photographs and memorabilia, throughout the exhibits. This exhibit will not be seen anywhere else in the world as these collections have been compiled by BUEI from various sources to give visitors a wide overview of how the greatest marine tragedy captivated the public.
