Children from the Tendercare Pre-School and Aftercare Services will begin their Walk a Thon at 2.30 p.m.

They will set out from Long Bay Beach, Somerset, wending their way to Lefroy House, before returning.

Parents and family friends will also be taking part -- along with anyone else who cares to join.

"Here is a great opportunity to get the community together, have a superb social even and reap the rewards by helping others,'' said organiser Mrs.

Patricia Shastri.

Walkers are asked to bring along their own food. Drink stations will be set up en route.

At the end there will be a big party, featuring clowns, raffles, prizes, music and games.

Money from the event will go towards the Packwood Home Project, and buy children's play equipment.
