Town criers competition
judged on three disciplines: diction and inflection; sustained volume and clarity; and dignity. In a separate discipline they will also compete for the Best Dressed title. Competitors, in full regalia, will deliver self- composed cries of not more than 100 words on the following topics, and at the venues and times specified, and the public is invited to watch the fascinating spectacle: Today, April 26: Bob Burns Memorial Cry -- Ordnance Island, 1.30 p.m.
Thursday, April 27: Home Cry (Heritage Trophy), King's Square, St. George's, 10 a.m. Historic St. George's Cry (St. George's Chalice), King's Square, 1.30 p.m.
Friday, April 28: Cry of Choice (Sea Venture Cup), City Hall, 10 a.m. Cry of Choice (Bermuda International Champion), Agricultural Exhibition, 2.20 p.m.
The criers will parade to King's Square at 8.45 tonight for the Beat Retreat ceremony.
