Where you want to be on Nadanja Bailey's birthday

Variety!: Comedian Nadanja Bailey is celebrating his birthday by holding a variety show at the Fairmont Southampton tomorrow night.

Comedian Nadanja Bailey has decided that instead of having a birthday party, he will put on a show to do what he does best – make people laugh. Called Nadanja's Birthday Comedy Show it will be a variety show featuring local singers Sia Spence, Candace Furbert – who have both won Bermuda Idol – and Lita Marie, plus his father Wendell (Shine) Hayward. International act Lady Saw and Beanie Man will perform their hit tune 'Healing' and the Two Fools, which includes Jahrizino Simmons and Mr. Bailey, will do a skit. He handpicked the comedians for the show.

They are Lawrence Killebrew, Crazy Jay and Kareem Green. "I met Lawrence in 2006 at Jamie Foxx's Laffapalooza in Atlanta. You have to be somebody to get onto Laffapalooza. Lawrence now has his own room on a Tuesday night at the Laugh House in Philadelphia, so that is big for him," said Mr. Bailey.

"Kareem is from New York. I knew him from performing there and I always thought that Kareem was funny and I said, 'you have to come to Bermuda'.

"He actually won the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition this year, which is the same competition that I was in in 2006 when I made it to the semi finals. And (Crazy) Jay, I also met in New York. He is like 40-something and comes with a lot of experience and I always thought that he was funny and I thought he had to be on my show too."

He added: "So anybody looking for something to do, this is where you want to be! Make it a girls' night out or guys night out or a couples night out.

"And if your relationship is struggling, go to a comedy show, laugh your tail off and then look at that person and say, 'it was funny,' go get a glass of wine and go home and make a baby – in that order."

The show is at the Fairmont Southampton tomorrow and begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are available at Quija Fabrics and 27th Century Boutique, $50 for general admission and $100 for VIP. Doors open at 8 p.m. and show starts at 9 p.m.
