A perfect showcase for talent
The Underground Music Awards was the perfect showcase for young talented Bermudians to take the stage and show off a bit.
Ruth Seaton James Hall was filled with fans, artists and supporters on Saturday night as the annual awards show took place.
Hosts for the evening were Power Girl and B Roca who began the evening by interviewing artists on the red carpet outside of the event.
The show kicked off with a dance tribute of Thriller to Michael Jackson followed by more dancing to various reggae songs. Larrita Adderley was the night's first songstress with a rousing gospel song. She went on to win Best Female Artist later in the night.
Best Male Artist went to TDI followed by a performance by Young Mecca who performed a song called 'Never Enough'.
The lovely Tabia from St. Vincent was awarded Best New Artist followed by Best Male Rap Artist going to KD.
Malz took the stage to perform complete with dancers and a hype man and then won Best Female Rap Artist.
The best performance of the night in my opinion went to the super talented Jelani Simmons who not only had great rhymes but tons of swag.
He did his thing and did it well especially for being so young. Best R&B artist went to TDI while Imari picked up the award for Best Rap Song.
Tabia took the stage to perform her two songs 'Dance the Night Away' and 'Boom Boom Boom' which won best music video.
KD went on to win the LA Virgil award while Young Mecca won the People's Choice Award.
Convinced, a female rap artist took to the stage to perform two songs followed by my favourites, the A Team made up of Ninja Cutty, E-Levels, Genius and Cheetah.
Overall, the show was very entertaining but was marred by technical difficulties and a not so great sound system.
If the organisers could fix the kinks, the show would be a million times better and perhaps draw in a bigger crowd.
