Craft sale returns at Masterworks

Suzie Hooper, made a line of jewellery for Masterworks.

A popular shopping event at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art is being repeated this year with 20 vendors offering a huge range of arts and crafts for sale.

Last year the museum held a 'One Stop Shopping' event and this Saturday's event will have everything from handmade crafts to chocolates.

Masterworks office and facilities manager Suzie Hooper said: "It was such a success for both the crafters and the number of people who attended the event that crafts were flying out of here.

"It offers a chance for early Christmas shopping of unique gifts made by some of Bermuda's talented craftsmen, who often have no other venue or outlet to sell many one-of-a-kind pieces."

The list of vendors includes: Susan Gibbons, Michael Hooper, miniature artist Milton Hill's cedar boats, Llewellyn Emery's Bermuda Cedar creations, Agnes McCudden's door wreaths, Catherine Bell and her chocolate truffles, Helle Pukk's ceramics, Vivienne Gardner's books and stained glass.

Westgate Correctional Facility inmates will also sell their cedar crafts, such as cedar picture frames, candle holders, ships wheels, jewellery boxes and trays.

Ms Hooper, who is also a jewellery designer, will launch the Masterworks Jewellery Collection at the event.

There will also be art activities for children, as this day encompasses Masterworks' Super Saturday.

"Super Saturday is run on the last Saturday of the month and is only $5 for the child to participate in the arts and crafts. Parents can shop and children can play."

There is free admission into the 'We are Sailing' and 'Bermuda In Another Light exhibits.

Ms Hooper added that the event will also feature mulled wine, a mini Rock Island Café, free gift wrapping by The Saturday Girl's Club hosted by Phenomenal Women, a hotdog stand and face painting.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and finishes at 4 p.m. For more information ring 236-2950.
