Fashion show promises to 'treat women extra special'
Bermuda's international model Amir is holding a Mother's Day fashion show fundraiser this weekend.
Twisted Sense takes place at Greg's Steakhouse on Sunday and it is funding the filming of Amir's pilot programme 'That's Hot!' a travel magazine show.
Amir said the all-male show would have something for everyone's taste.
"It is a collaboration of various types of men to be celebrated on Mother's Day and they will be styled in clothing from around Bermuda.
"With this in mind, we have short guys, we have big and tall men, we have guys you wouldn't see on the runway. This is just giving everyone an opportunity to come to a show and be entertained with the rainbow of men, rather than just seeing models."
Although the show is aimed at mothers, it is open for both men and women. It is male fashion and it makes sense for the stores to gain leverage by having guys in the audience, so men are free to come if they would like to, although we are going to treat the women extra special," said Amir.
He said it wasn't difficult narrowing the auditioners down to 25 models. "It wasn't very difficult at all, because the criteria was very wide and very open.
"The show is going to be a sign that we can all come together. The guys are having a ball at the rehearsals every week, which have been going on at the Jackson's School of Performing Arts and I want to thank them for renting to us at a very reasonable cost."
The fashion show is fundraiser for the European leg of his upcoming pilot of 'That's Hot!'
"In the last year and a half, I have travelled the world and collected footage on luxury hotels, restaurants, boutique hotels, luxury homes for 'That's Hot'.
"'That's Hot' is a travel programme. We just covered Fashion Week in New York City and it has been extremely successful. I took three Bermudians away and I would like to take two more with me to Europe and they are Lamont Robinson and Steve Easton.
"So I need to raise funds for them to go with me and to be celebrated because they give so much to our community and we need to thank them for giving so much to our media industry. There will also be a few more surprise visuals that will be on the screen that I feel mothers will enjoy. There will also be gift giving, a lot of gifts have been purchased and I also own a gallery www.artefactsandgifts.com, so people can give a shout out during the show and give a gift that has been purchased for their parents."
Tickets are going to be available at 27th Century Boutique, The Booth, New Life, Mambo and they are $40 in advance and $50 at the door, and $65 for VIP tickets.
