Trevor Fyfe doesn't feel a day over 45, even if his birth certificate says he is 65.

That's because this city engineer thinks he has engineered a way to reverse the ageing process.

He is sharing his secrets with the general public with a new book called 'Change Your Life Now — The Book that Will Change Your Life — The Journey of Continuous Empowerment'.

"On April 27, I will be 66 years of age," said Mr. Fyfe who is managing director for C10 Development a Bermuda-based company involved in civil engineering, contracting and development. "But I trail my biological age by all the standard measurements that are out there.

"I trail in significant double digits. At least that is my daily mantra."

Mantras and keeping a positive mental outlook are a large part of Mr. Fyfe's method of turning back the clock on his body.

"Change your thinking and change your life," Mr. Fyfe wrote in his book. "This metaphysical principle of directing conscious thought has been practiced by all the enlightened seers throughout the ages."

Mr. Fyfe's programme encompasses three areas, mental attitude, diet and exercise.

The book is meant to be a 'how-to' rather than a text book. The exercise portion of it contains several explanatory pictures of himself lifting weights.

His son Trevor Fyfe Jr. helped him with this side of the book by taking the photos.

"I tried to find the simplest way to go about this," he said. "I have been involved in wellness for as long as I can remember.

"I was in a family situation where I saw my parents and grandparents paying attention to what they thought was the right way to approach diet and physical fitness. In school, I was very into sport."

He said until about the age of 35 he exercised, but it was for cosmetic reasons — to look good.

"After that age I got involved in metaphysics where the body and the mind are all integrated," he said. "It dawned on me that there is no real separation between mind and body. What ever approach you take it has to be holistic."

He became so interested in holistic health that he went back to school to get a masters degree in holistic nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health in Birmingham, Alabama.

"I wanted to maximise whatever I was going to go do in the arena of holistic health," he said.

His book, 'Changing Your Life Now' evolved from his masters degree thesis on longevity and the reversal of biological ageing.

"It was my speciality," he said. "Not that I am suggesting that people who read it will live forever, because you can't. But I am a strict believer that if you can't live forever, you should forever live.

"We should maximise our time on Earth and grow old healthily. I have distilled the last 30 years of my life into 'Change your Life Now'."

Mr. Fyfe said he paged through hundreds of 400 page books on health and nutrition to bring together one slim 47 page book.

"I have literally, done the heavy lifting for you," he said. "Although a lot of the books in the bookstore claim to be for dummies, they are still very complicated.

"I wanted to give people something they could understand easily and put into progress easily."

He said he has benefitted from following the practices in the book through his life, now he wants others to do the same.

"Writing this book is my method of sharing with other people," he said. "It is my way of giving back. I am living proof that this thing works."

In the book he writes: "This is a programme of beneficial do's and if followed guarantees success... I can say with total honesty that this decision has been the most important of my life. It has made me treat chronological age as an irrelevant number that bears no relationship to biological age, life's only important age consideration."

The book is available in local bookstores. For more information email the author at twfwpb@gmail.com
