Looking for a few good young people
Raleigh International Bermuda is looking for people aged between 17 and 25 who are looking for a life-changing experience.
The recruitment event takes place today at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Raleigh International Bermuda (RIB) executive director Kristin White said RIB is a youth development charity that offers a year-long, personal development programme, which includes a ten-week long expedition overseas.
"In summer 2009, 11 young Bermudians completed a Raleigh expedition in Malaysia," she said.
"During these ten weeks the participants were challenged physically and mentally, whilst engaging in demanding, yet inspiring projects.
"By helping the small villages where they lived, they learned that they were capable of more than they ever thought possible.
"Raleigh's goal is to reach out to those young members in our community who are at risk of not reaching their full potential, and who, without intervention, may not develop into positive adults. This programme gives the young participants the life skills needed to excel."
During 2010, RIB participants will have the choice of an expedition in India, Malaysia or Costa Rica/Nicaragua.
RIB is now accepting applications for this fully-funded programme and the deadline has been extended to January 11. An application can be downloaded from www.raleigh.bm.
The website also has photos of previous expeditions, details about the expedition, training and post-expedition activities.
More details will be available at the recruitment presentation tonight.
