'Chairity' begins at Masterworks

Earmark November 14 for a 'Chairity' auction at the Masterworks Foundation in the Botanical Gardens. The occasion will mark the 60th birthday of its principal patron, Prince Charles, on the same date.

Fifty Adirondack chairs, creatively designed and painted by local artists, will go under the hammer at the Foundation's Botanical Gardens headquarters, the proceeds of which will be used to support the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art's educational efforts.

Prior to the auction, the chairs will be on display for preview in early November.

The fund-raiser has the support of Prince Charles, who has already conveyed his warmest regards and congratulations to the registered charity and the prospective auction guests.

Founder-director of the Foundation and Museum, Tom Butterfield, promises the auction would be "a great deal of fun" and urges everyone to attend, saying that opportunities such as this allow young Bermudians to enrich their lives through art.
