Pirate Night at the Masterworks

Buccaneers and maids will take centre stage as the Pirate Night at the Masterworks Museum gets under way on Saturday evening.

The night kicks off with pirate-themed art activities and a treasure hunt throughout the museum.

A real life pirate will welcome patrons as they arrive at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art in the Botanical Gardens from 5 p.m.

The film 'Pirates of the Caribbean – The Curse of the Black Pearl' featuring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and British starlet Keira Knightley will begin at 6.30 p.m.

Museum director Tom Butterfield said: "This event ties in with the current exhibition at the Masterworks Museum – 'We Are Sailing' – which explores Bermuda's ties with the seas over the last 400 years.

"While piracy was not something that was a prominent feature in Bermuda's history, the museum is expanding on our family friendly activities and this is hopefully the first in a series of themed movie nights that we will run."

Food vendors will be on hand for dinner and soft drinks and popcorn will be on sale for the movie. There will also be a cash bar for the adults, which will sell beer and wine.

Tickets are $5 per child and $10 per adult including one free drink.

Tickets are limited and need to be booked on 236-2950. Movie is rated PG-13 and parents strongly cautioned for action adventure violence.
