Tango festival comes to Bermuda this weekend
Latin is not letting up this weekend, as the Bermuda's Argentine Tango Festival 'Feel the Love Feel the Passion' gets underway.
The Island is hosting its first Argentine Tango Festival at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess until Sunday.
SalsaMania Productions, with support from the Bermuda Department of Tourism, will welcome five master Argentine Tango instructors for a weekend of intense dance workshops, performances, and nightly milongas (Tango social dancing).
The main event is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 p.m., and is a professional showcase featuring local talent from the Sabor Dance School and the visiting master instructors.
"Argentine Tango festivals draw numerous individuals from around the globe to come together looking to share in a dance described as 'a dance that expresses most of the emotions that might exist between a man and woman: passion, excitement, love, romance, tenderness, sadness, anger and even silliness'," said Travis Gilbert, of BermudaSalsa.com.
"The plan for a Tango festival has been in the works for over a year, and is the first of its kind that Bermuda has seen."
The Festival will feature 12 multi-level workshops for beginners to advanced dancers, a professional showcase, and the opportunity for social dancing each evening.
The five Master instructors are Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrioneuvo, Marisa Quiroga and Eduardo Saucedo and Angel F. Coria.
