Two Fools celebrate 10 years with anniversary show
Ten years ago Nadanja Bailey and Jahrizino Simmons set up as the Two Fools.
And tonight and tomorrow they will stage the Two Fools 10th Anniversary Show at the Amphitheatre at the Fairmont Southampton along with Nishanthi Bailey, Leighsa Darrell, Langre Edwards and Ryan Bean.
They have produced nine skits for the show and Mr. Simmons said: "We have old skits that we want to introduce into the new skits; case in point one of the people's favourites is the PMS skit, which you have been following from Two Fools I.
"She's been through different scenarios, so we'll show a clip or two from previous PMS skits, so that people can understand why the lady is the way she is."
Another character that will make an appearance during the show will be Grandma Edness. "Both of them [PMS and Grandma Edness] were in the Bermuda Day Parade," said Mr. Simmons.
One skit they particularly enjoy is a play on words from the cartoon character Hong Kong Phooey. "We play little boys and this one is called Hong Kong Phoney," added Mr. Simmons."
Asked where they got their inspiration from, Mr. Simmons said: "Just knowing that people enjoy it, although it gets harder every year to write something new, it just hurts the head.
"But I get inspired by guys like Nadanja and Bootsie guys that love it much more than me. I think I love it when I'm on the stage, but I think these guys love it whether they are on or not, so that drives me. Once I'm there, that's what pushes me on."
Mr. Bailey added: "Jah is more the writer, he pretty much writes everything. I'll call him up and say, 'yo, what about this?'
"And he'll say, 'nah or ok, let me see how I can work it in'. But all the credit goes to him pretty much, when it comes to writing.
"That's his thing, he's the guy that puts the pen to the paper and makes it happen."
Mr. Simmons added: "With that said, a lot of the ideas come from some of the skits he or I do in live stand up. With his characterisation, and how I know he is, he is not difficult to write for.
"So it goes both ways, because I know his mannerisms and I know he can handle it and when I am reciting the words, I am saying it as I would think or know he would say it. So, it's a two part thing."
