When it comes to reaching kids, these two aren't fooling around
The Two Fools are at it again, but this time they have left the stage behind and will be practising their particular kind of crazy fun at their Family Fun Day tomorrow.
Two Fools Family Fun Day: I'm Back 2 Skool Again will take place at Shelly Bay Field from noon to 8 p.m.
There will be Gombeys, free entertainment, fun castles, crazy games, plenty of giveaways, raffle prizes, dunk tank, majorettes, Playskills Productions, face painting and much more, say comics and organisers Jahrizino (Jah) Simmons and Nadanja Bailey.
When they began holding the events, the aim was to make an impact with the youth and do something on a broader scale.
"Although kids can come to our events/plays, it is kind of adult issues and you have to be able to catch onto it," said Mr. Simmons.
"We want to do something more community based that more people can remember and kind of look forward to, hopefully every year, and be a part of."
Their aim is to also reach out to the youth to let them know they are valued.
"Sometimes things that go on in the Island, especially if it is youth related, and some people tend to turn their back on them and say, 'can't fix you'.
"But even if we can't fix the ones that are doing it (the violence) or are deemed unfixable, we figure it is a good idea to catch the ones who are paying attention and keep them out of trouble."
He added: "There will be silly races, fun castles, tanks where you can Dunk a Fool, crazy competitions, we have entertainers coming on down, Gombeys and myself and Nadanja will be performing a skit for everybody.
"There will also be three- legged races, wheelbarrow races with kids pushing their parent or guardian, water ballooned musical chairs and other fun events.
"We are just trying to make it as silly as possible and hopefully next year it will grow."
In addition they are having a toy drive for people who want to donate something that their child is no longer using.
The raffle tickets will be sold for $2 each, as a way of helping the Two Fools fund their scholarship fund.
They have also asked organisations who have a hand in the future of Bermuda's youth to come out an drum up interest for themselves.
"PRIDE, CARE, Alpha Phi Alpha, Boy's Day Out Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, are all welcome to come and set up a little booth to try and get young people involved, so that we can keep them off the streets," said Mr. Simmons.
Admission is free.
