Cash and plane tickets on offer for best Cup Match fielder

This year’s winner of Cup Match’s coveted Safe Hands Award is to receive two tickets to US ‘gateway’ cities, along with a $1,000 cash prize.The award for the best fielder of Cup Match is entering its 14th year. It was taken last year by repeat winner Dwayne ‘Sluggo’ Leverock of Somerset.A panel of judges chooses each year’s winner based on overall performance during the two-day event as well as the best catches.The 2011 prizes comes with the Calvin “Bummy” Symonds Cup, and a playing kit donated by Mr Symonds’ family.Rolfe Commissiong of Black Star Communications said the event was “to give something back to the players who, after all, have made the Cup Match Classic such a memorable event for generations of Bermudians”.
