I’ve almost made a 180 degree turn. It hasn’t been easy but with determination and hard work I’m on my way.My ultimate dream is to become a psychologist helping at-risk teens.I want to inspire young people with my story and show them that their past doesn’t determine their destiny.I strongly believe that it doesn’t matter where you start; it’s where you finish and it’s never too late to change. To accomplish my goal, upon graduating from high school I’ll work towards completing a master’s degree in psychology and eventually obtain my doctorate.I will do everything in my power to turn my dream into reality. I don’t want this only for myself but for those around me.I will give back to my community by encouraging, understanding and supporting the youth of Bermuda and in order to make the Island the paradise it once was.Chenzira Lightbourne placed second and Shanay Dill, third, in the S2 category.S3 winner– Ke-Anne Adcock-SmithMy life mission statement is to never work a day in my life; to become a veterinarian, an environmentalist and to work with troubled children to improve their lifestyle.I want to give children a better outlook on life and to be the voice for those who do not have one.My mission is to be the sunlight in a dark place and in so doing, I would not be working; I would be fulfilling a dream and satisfying a passion. My plan is to love to come to work because I will be improving the life. I believe in the biggest question in life is ‘what are you doing for others?’There were no other winners from S3.S4 winner –Akeila Richardson“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.”This quote by Karen Ravn mirrors my internal mindset, as I strive to exceed that which seems impossible. In my short life, I have achieved much more than some have ever dreamed of achieving in their entire lifetime. I could be satisfied with these achievements and stop reaching for success, but instead, I choose to add to these milestones, as I view them as a mere foundation of what is to come.Upon finishing high school, I wish to go off to university and study pre-medicine and political science, and then go on to become a paediatrician. But that’s only the beginning. Subsequent to practising medicine for a number of years, I would like to become a Member of Parliament and acquire either the Minister of Health or Minister of Sports portfolio.I would use my knowledge and experience to augment these sectors in our community. After that, I would like to become Premier of Bermuda.I encompass the knowledge, common sense, passion, determination, leadership, and unselfish characteristics that would make me an ideal candidate to fill this position.Bermuda needs a leader that has the best interest of the Country in mind, and that is what I will deliver. However, that is not my ultimate goal. I would fight for a better, unified Bermuda and somewhere in between create a better me.Adrien Lewis placed second and Tatyana Butterfield, third, in the S4 category.
