Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art is now accepting entries for the Charman Prize.The art award was established in 2006 to recognise local talents for their excellence.Entry forms are available in hard copy from the Botanical Gardens museum, or online at www.bermudamasterworks.com.It is open to all artists who have lived on the Island for at least six months, as well as Bermudian artists who reside overseas.The grand prize winner will take home $10,000 for work that best meets the judging criteria. Four additional prizes of $2,500 will be awarded to the runners-up. Twelve people will honourable mention prizes and $100.The Charman Prize is named after businessman John Charman.He said: “It gives me great satisfaction to sponsor the sixth annual Charman Prize dedicated to the visual arts in Bermuda.“Over the years I have watched the talents of our artists flourish and new talents emerge.“However, the most gratifying aspect of the Charman Prize for me is to see such a broad cross-section of the art community come together to celebrate the state of the arts on the Island.”The theme for this year’s competition is ‘?’A panel of three overseas art professionals will serve as judges.
