Bermuda Glee 2013 auditions take place tomorrow

Teachers from last year’s Bermuda Glee summer intensive programme.

Auditions for an intensive summer arts programme for young people run tomorrow at the Berkeley Institute.Performing arts charity Troika is looking for singers, dancers and actors to take part in Bermuda Glee. The seven-day intensive course in the performing arts ends with a production in July.“This year students will be taught something, and that will be their audition piece,” said Troika co-founder Seldon Woolridge. “It is about how they perform what they have been taught. We just want to ensure that we choose students who have a willingness to learn and participate and have a positive attitude.”He said that Bermuda Glee is meant to be a programme that facilitates collaboration between schools, students and teachers. The programme was started by the Argo Foundation three years ago. This is the first year that Troika has taken over its running.“The Argo Foundation are still serving as the lead sponsor, but we are taking over the management of it and the producing of it,” said Mr Woolridge. “It was a very exciting two first years thanks to the Argo Foundation and the teachers who helped to establish it. Last year over 70 people auditioned. This year, there is no real cap on how many people may be chosen for Bermuda Glee.”Students between the ages of 14 and 18 years old will be considered. Tomorrow’s auditions will take place from 10am to 11.30am and from 12pm to 1.30pm.Useful website: www.troikabda.com .
