Model Sophie Fraser-Smith died tragically last summer, but her memory lives on in the London fashion world.

The Sophie Fraser-Smith Models Model Award is now part of the annual Top Model Worldwide competition.

It will be given to the finalist most nominated by their peers.

The 21-year-old Bermudian took part in the British competition twice.

“She was part of our Top Model family and is dearly missed,” said creative director Geoff Cox. “Miss Fraser-Smith continued to work with Top Model since she competed with us back in 2012 and 2013 and mentored up-and-coming models with Top Model along with helping with coaching.

“We scouted her in Bermuda in 2011, we brought her to London and we got her into London Fashion Week.

“Sophie came to my wedding in 2016 and she and her mother, Lisa, were very close and dear friends of both Top Model and me personally, so an award in her name is a fitting tribute.”

Ms Fraser-Smith’s mother Lisa said she was certain her daughter would have been thrilled by the acknowledgement.

“I am overwhelmed by the love and support that has been expressed by Top Model,” she said. “I know Sophie would be very honoured and proud.”

Ms Fraser-Smith died in a traffic accident in Bermuda on July 18.
